Product Description

The Fair Squared period cup is a soft menstrual cup, made of fairly traded natural rubber. It does not absorb the menstrual fluid but collects it. The Period Cup can be used throughout the menstrual cycle, no matter whether the menstrual flow is light or heavy. It gives you longer protection because the cup can retain more than three times the amount of menstrual fluid than a regular tampon.

The Period Cup is reusable, can easily be cleaned with water and once you know how to correctly insert it, you won’t feel it.  In addition, you no longer need disposable sanitary pads or tampons, which are unhealthy for intimate contact and pollute the environment when discarded.

Why choose a menstrual cup over tampons and sanitary pads? Read more on our blog.

Unlike plastic or silicone menstrual cups, this cup is an environmentally friendly intimate hygiene product. It does not contain plastic, silicone, BPA, PVC, phthalates or bleaching agents. Produced in a CO2-neutral way and labelled with the Fairtrade label, it shows that small farmers receive a fair return for their produce and use it to improve working and living conditions.

Boil in a pot of hot water for 5 minutes before first use. Make sure the cup is completely covered with water and does not touch the bottom of the pot.

When used during menstruation, clean under running water after each emptying. If you wish, you can also use a special menstrual cup cleanser.

At the end of the menstrual cycle, it is recommended to boil the cup for one minute in clear water and store it in the provided cotton bag until the next use.

Do not leave your cup in direct sunlight. As it is made entirely of natural material, the sun can damage the cup over time.

For first-time use, take your time and stay calm. The most important thing is to relax! You can also practice before the cycle starts. You can become proficient in just a few menstrual cycles.

The use of a menstrual cup differs from the use of tampons and sanitary pads, in particular because the menstrual cup is not inserted as deeply as a tampon.

Find a comfortable position for your body to insert the menstrual cup. Fold the menstrual cup and insert it into the vagina, where it will open. It is important that the edges of the cup create a vacuum against the walls of the vagina, so if necessary, twist the cup slightly and check with your finger that it is fully open – it should feel evenly rounded. A properly installed period cup will not leak and will not be felt.

To remove it, you first need to open the vacuum – the easiest way to do this is to slightly squeeze the canister with your fingers and then pull it out by gently twisting it. The lower part of the cup also has a rubber tip for easier removal. Again, the most important thing is to relax, because with relaxed pelvic floor muscles you can easily reach the cup and take it out.

Empty the cup as necessary – the frequency will evolve as you use it. Menstrual cups can be used safely for up to 12 consecutive hours. You can combine emptying with showering in the morning and evening. Outside the home, it’s more convenient to carry a small water bottle and menstrual cleanser with you for rinsing.
